Robot vacuums and mops are increasingly capable, acing our tests of cleaning and tackling a variety of floor types. Look for models that allow you to choose from a variety of modes, and use their charging docks to self-empty, and clean up stairs.

Many of the top models integrate with your smartphone. Look for an app that allows you to save maps, schedules, and choose cleaning modes.

1. Eufy Omni S1 Pro

The gunmetal and gloss black Omni S1 Pro from Eufy is among the most impressive mop and robot vacuum combos available. It uses lidar to navigate and create maps of floors and rooms (even multiple levels), and works with the free Eufy Clean application that lets you set schedules and alter the S1's behavior.

When I tried the S1, it was able to map our downstairs, which is home to laminate flooring in the kitchen, dining room and bathrooms, along with carpeting of medium-pile as well as a large area rug. It was capable of driving up to walls and even cross raised thresholds without any problems. However it had some issues navigating down the stairs in one pass. The S1 performed admirably in cleaning hard floors. Its mop moved smoothly on its flat side and lifted itself when it was near carpets or carpets.

The mops are also cleaned with heated water, and dried in the basestation whenever required. Mops are also refilled from the top of the base station when needed.

1. Dreame X40 Ultra

Dreame released the luxe X30 Ultra earlier this year, but their new top-of-the-line robot vacuum and mop has even more impressive features. It offers outstanding cleaning results and hands-free maintenance which makes it a strong contender on our top mop and robot vacuum list. Its superior mapping capabilities, RGB AI smart recognition and a longer side brush will give you a thorough, customised clean.

The X40 Ultra vacuums well, it can remove both large and fine debris. It works equally well on hard floors and carpets. It cleaned the dirtiest areas of our tests well, avoiding pet hairs and other mess. The sweeping capabilities are augmented by a side brush that swings out to tackle hard-to-reach corners, as well as an extended mop pad that is placed along baseboards.

Its navigation is smart that can navigate narrow spaces and negotiating stairways without missing a step.
